Introduction and Problem Statement

O'Hare International Airport is the largest airport in Chicago. O’Hare constantly rolls out new additions to the airport, and came to Word on the Block to help them promote the new stores and restaurants in Terminal 3. O’Hare wanted to promote Chicago, encouraging travel, and highlight a great airport experience, with content they could use in running paid media on social properties thereafter. With aspirations of working with over 50 creators, they did not have the internal resources, know-how or time to manage a massive influencer marketing campaign themselves. They needed help finding the best influencers in Chicago, determining fair prices, making sure their content is done well and on time, and analyzing the performance results.

Solution

From its network of over 100,000 creators, Word on the Block found over 200 of the top Food/Travel influencers in Chicago, all eager to work with O’Hare on their campaign. For each influencer that was approved, Word on the Block handled contracting, scheduling, content instructions and coordinating each influencer’s in-person visit to O’Hare. Once the content was shot, Word on the Block worked with each Influencer to ensure their content met O’Hare’s quality standards, and ultimately posted properly with usage rights access for O’Hare. The performance of each influencer’s post was organized in Word on the Block’s performance dashboard, which automatically pulls in views and engagements on an hourly basis. The performance analysis made it clear which content O’Hare should license for their paid media work, which Word on the Block made easy to execute.

Results

O’Hare was able to scale their campaign to over 50 influencers, generating over 4 million impressions organically, with almost 100 ad-ready assets to drive further reach and engagement through paid media on Meta. Despite the number of influencers, the campaign was complete from start to finish in 3 weeks, well ahead of schedule. O’Hare now had enough assets to last them multiple years of aggressive ad-testing.
